๐ Sermon 103 – Jesus’ Cure for Worry
Date: [no date given]
Place: Hanford, California
Text: Luke 12:22–34
Introduction
Jesus speaks tenderly and directly to His disciples about the anxieties that trouble the heart. He exposes the nature of worry, reveals the Father’s providence, and calls His people to trust and seek the Kingdom above all earthly needs.
A. “Do not be anxious about your life”
Life’s necessities — food, clothing, bodily needs — often become the center of our fears.
These are the very things Jesus highlights.
B. The concerns of the world
The nations are consumed with material survival.
Their focus is limited to this life alone.
C. Worry is the fruit of “little faith”
An anxious heart reveals an insufficient trust in God.
A. The ravens
They neither sow nor store, yet God feeds them.
If He cares for crows, how much more for His children?
B. The lilies
They do nothing — no labor, no spinning.
Yet God clothes them in beauty surpassing Solomon.
Their brief existence is still precious to Him.
A. Worry adds nothing to life
Not a single hour. Not a single inch.
B. Worry harms rather than helps
It drains strength and clouds judgment.
C. “Why be anxious about the rest?”
If God provides for small things, He can provide for all.
A. “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom”
We are heirs — children of a generous Father.
B. Seek first the Kingdom of God
Make His rule and His righteousness your priority.
C. Give to the poor
A heart freed from worry becomes a heart free to give.
D. Lay up treasures in heaven
Where your treasure is, your heart will follow.
E. Live by faith, not fear
The cure for worry is deeper trust in the Father’s promises.
Conclusion
Jesus calls His followers to release anxiety by embracing faith. Look at the birds. Consider the lilies. Remember your Father. He knows your needs and delights to care for you. Live for His Kingdom — and worry will lose its grip.
